Key things that you must do before filing for divorce

Almost everyone feels dissatisfaction in their marriage at one point or another since relationships are always changing and evolving over time. However, feeling dissatisfied and surrendering yourself to divorce are two very different things.

If you are considering filing for divorce, it’s likely that you are experiencing some hesitation. You will want to make sure that you are making the right decision, both for the sake of your own future and for the future of your children. Before taking definitive action to file for a divorce, take into account the following considerations.

Make sure you won’t have regrets
While it sounds obvious, you need to be absolutely certain that divorce is the right thing to do before filing. Therefore, you shouldn’t file on a whim or immediately after finding out that your partner has been unfaithful, for example. Make sure that you have thought about your future, and that you are not making the decision to divorce based on a temporary emotion.

Gather all financial documents
Before filing for divorce, it’s important that you make sure that you have organized certain documents. This will give you an advantage in the proceedings and will help you to prevent stress and worry when you start to go through the different stages of divorce.

Figure out where you will live
You should have made living arrangements before you take action to file for divorce. You may want to continue living with your spouse in the family home throughout the divorce process. In certain situations, this may be advantageous from a child custody perspective. Alternatively, you may want to move out or request that your divorcing spouse move out.

Set goals for child custody
If you have children, setting yourself up for a successful child custody arrangement should be your biggest priority. Before filing for divorce, make sure you have set realistic goals for this process.

If you are currently unhappy in your marriage, make sure that you have an organized approach when planning to file for divorce in Arizona.
